Porque é que o TOEFL está a Atualizar o Teste Mundial de Inglês
Durante mais de seis décadas, o TOEFL estabeleceu o padrão para medir o inglês académico em todo o mundo. Nos últimos anos, investigação intensiva com universidades e estudantes revelou áreas onde o teste poderia melhorar.
Os estudantes de hoje querem fazer testes em qualquer lugar, com poucas responsabilidades administrativas. Também esperam uma experiência de teste moderna. E não querem esperar uma semana e meia para ver os resultados.
Entretanto, as universidades esperam que os testes sejam seguros, fiáveis e acessíveis. Querem também garantir que os novos estudantes possam comunicar com os seus pares, além de lerem manuais e ouvirem as aulas.
Para equilibrar as necessidades dos estudantes e das instituições, estamos a introduzir atualizações no TOEFL que tornam o teste mais justo e mais acessível aos estudantes, sem comprometer a qualidade ou o rigor.
Neste vídeo, Omar Chihane, Diretor-Geral do TOEFL, apresenta uma visão geral das recentes melhorias ao TOEFL iBT, o teste mundial de inglês.
A partir deste janeiro, o TOEFL iBT modernizou o seu design, conteúdo e escala de pontuação, mantendo o rigor académico e a investigação baseada em evidências em que as instituições globais confiam desde 1964.
Estas atualizações incluem a introdução de uma escala de pontuação de 1 a 6, em incrementos de meio ponto, com um alinhamento mais intuitivo com o Quadro Europeu Comum de Referência para Línguas, que agora serve como padrão global para a proficiência em inglês.
O TOEFL também devolve as pontuações aos alunos dentro de três dias, adaptando-se à proficiência individual de cada aluno nas secções de Leitura e Escuta, e testando competências académicas modernas, incluindo a comunicação com colegas na sala de aula.
